Bethesda has just released a brand new trailer for The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind, hinting an all new gameplay involving political intrigue and assassination. According to reports, the impending expansion will also take players back to the setting of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, adding more nostalgia to the game.

In a recent interview, The Elder Scrolls Online Creative Director Rich Lambert revealed how meticulous the process was in recreating various locations from the original game. He noted that by recreating familiar locations, veteran players of the original version might be encouraged to try The Elder Scrolls Online.

"We want TES III players to feel like they’re coming back home. So we spent a lot of time recreating all the locations that they know from TES III in ESO: Morrowind."

The Elder Scrolls Online Art Director Jared Carr also shared some details about the challenges of reinventing familiar locations while maintaining its original concept.

Apparently, the game's original height map was utilized to place each location exactly where it was in the game and ensured that every detail of the place was recreated faithfully.

"When building Vvardenfell in ESO: Morrowind, we started with TES III. " Carr said. "We grabbed the height map directly from the original game and used that as a starting point for creating the terrain, and we referenced TES III‘s key architecture styles for the structures."

"The whole goal is to take the original game and the world and re-envision it so that it’s more detailed."

"There's nothing more nostalgic than going back to Vvardenfell which is where the whole series really took off, so that's why we picked it. " Game Director Matt Firor added. "It's a part of the world with a different feel and it's inside the same game."

Also returning in The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind are the Great Houses — House Hlaalu, House Redoran, and House Telvanni. Players must decide whether they will form an alliance with them.

The latest expansion of the game will also highlight political intrigue, where players might assassinate a lot of corrupt politicians.

Aside from that, the upcoming expansion pack will also bring new features in the game including a new duel feature. Depending on reports, The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind will introduce the new Player vs. Player battlegrounds.

The Warden Class will also make its debut in the Morrowind expansion. Apparently, this new class will provide players with a War Bear companion. There will also serve as a mission for players to take, where they should save the Vivec City from a possible meteor.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind expansion pack will be released as an early access version on May 22. It will be accessible to $40 to those who already have a copy of TheElder Scrolls Online. Meanwhile, newcomers to the game will have to buy the basic game and the expansion for $60. The official release date of The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind will be on June 6 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
